Fissure Sealants

Are plastic “varnishes” applied to the biting surface of Children’s adult teeth as they erupt to provide protection from decay. They can sometimes be a little fiddly to apply but need no injections or drilling and can be a good preventive introduction to Dentistry for young patients. They would typically be placed between the ages of six and twelve and have been reported to reduce the incidence of tooth decay by up to 80%.
